Unique Christmas Gift Ideas

With everybody else in the world planning to give gifts this holiday season, it can be really frustrating to find something that is really original and unique. In fact, during holidays, it is not surprising for people to find themselves receiving two identical gifts. That happens.

If you really want to stand out or at least make your gift stand out from the rest, here are some unique Christmas gift ideas that can help you.

1. Photograph

What can be more unique than a special photograph that will help remind your loved one of a special moment or occasion. The photograph may be of a place that you both love or some place where you both want to go. It can be something that is reminiscent of a time that you spent together. It may also be a picture of you together or a picture that you have taken when you are together. The possibilities are endless.

To jazz it up a bit, you can put the photo inside a photo album or a picture frame. It would even be more memorable if you can make or design a page off the photoalbum or better yet make one yourself.

2. Song or Poem

If you have the gift of words, you can put your gift into writing by making a personalized poem or song. This is a great way to show your loved ones how much you love them. You can have the poem or the song engraved in poster complete with drawings. You can have it made in shops that make wedding invitations and art posters.

If your song has music, you can actually perform the song and give the cd as a gift. You can even use personal photographs to design the album cover and put the lyrics inside just like an honest-to-goodness CD.

3. Painting

A picture can convey a lot of things, emotions, special moments together, a special place, a particular memory. If you are talented with paints, you can capture all those things on canvas. If you are not much into canvas, you can also do postcard size paintings that you can frame.

You can type or write your dedication at the back much like what you do with greeting cards. Paintings are wonderful gifts because not only is it personalized but it is also something that one can hang on walls or display in the house.

Child's Toddler Plush Lion Halloween Costume (2-4T)

Customer Review: Great costume!
I bought this costume for my son for a preschool play. The costume was great, but the inside was a little scratchy, so i would recommend wearing clothing underneath. Other then that the costume was good. Thank you.
Customer Review: Toddler Plush Lion Costume
The body of the costume was a little bigger than I expected, however, the head piece was almost too small. The picture made the lion's mane look more plush than the actual head piece. Overall, the costume was nice.

If you've started thinking about Halloween and unique but low cost costume ideas then you might want to read this article for more ideas. You can create two costumes - Halloween Kung Fu Panda costumes and Skeleton Halloween costumes by yourself.

Kung Fu Panda was a recent Dreamworks animation and it has achieved a tremendous reception in North America this summer. The film used both hand drawn and computer generated information and was in production for four years. In the film Kung Fu Panda is trying to transform his life from being a lazy slob to a master of Kung Fu. Jack Black plays the voice of Po and Angelina Jolie plays the voice of master tigress.

Recent news has it that in what might be a first time occurrence in the film industry Paramount Pictures are accompanying the DVD release of Kung Fu Panda on the 9th of November with a direct to video sequel. This is the first time that a sequel has been released on the same day as the original.

Halloween will soon be here and it's a good idea to do some planning in advance, especially if you have kids. If you are keen to maintain an in the know and up to the minute party image then a Kung Fu Panda costume seems like a great idea - you're sure to get a lot of laughs as Po the Kung Fu Panda. Kids especially love to be up to the minute in their party costumes and with the movie and the sequel still high on the news agenda. Kung Fu Panda costume should go down really well with younger members of the family.

You need some black pants and a black sweater with the main part of the chest painted in white. You should be able to find a panda mask to complete the outfit. You would probably need to pad the costume out as Kung Fu Panda is a bit on the chubby side. If you can't buy a panda mask then make one of your own from a piece of painted card.

An all time favorite Halloween costume for both youngsters and adults is that of a skeleton. This particular costume can be really cheap and easy to put together. All you need is a black sweater and tights along with some fabric paint and perhaps a scary skeleton mask. If you don't have any old black sweaters and tights to spare then it's possible to get them from a thrift clothing store for just a few dollars. Kids love to think that they look really scary at this time of year, which is probably why a skeleton costume has such huge appeal.

Whether you are making cheap Halloween costumes or looking for some other cheap costume ideas, the first place to start looking is at home. You probably have some old clothes and perhaps some face paints tucked away that could be very useful when making costumes.

I do not know which kind of costumes you are going to wear. But if you want to buy Kung Fu Panda costumes, I have an idea for you. You may find lots of choices on Halloween Kung Fu Panda Costumes 2008.

Halloween costumes make for wonderful props for make believe while celebrating this holiday season and everyone enjoys dressing up and masquerading as someone or something else, even if it is for only one day of the year. The most important thing about dressing up in a Halloween costume is to be comfortable, safe and enjoying yourself.

When considering the perfect Halloween costume, you will want to look around to find out what type of Halloween costumes are popular for this year, since every year brings new ideas for costumes and masks. Then you should decide what type of theme you would like to follow for picking your perfect costume. You will find there is a wide assortment of Halloween costumes for adults, children, infants, couples and teenagers.

Choosing your Halloween costume theme is a personal choice, whether you chose to masquerade as a cartoon character, ghouls and goblins, famous people and movie stars or something more traditional, you can pick the perfect Halloween costume and be the life of the party.

You can make a Halloween costume yourself if you like, which can be both creatively entertaining and fun, you can buy or even rent Halloween costumes, however you should keep in mind that when buying or renting a costume for Halloween that if you wait until the last minute, the choices for good costumes are already gone, so it is in your best interest to shop early in the season. The most important thing about picking the ultimate Halloween costume is to find one that is comfortable for you to wear and move around in, while wearing it to your Halloween costume and masquerade festivities.

Making your own costume can be lots of fun, since you allow your imagination to run freely. One cute idea for children is to take various colored, blown up balloons and a clear plastic garbage bag. Cut holes for the head and arms and then secure the bottom around the straddle, after filling the bag with balloons and they can go as a gum ball machine. A mummy is easy to make when using an old sheet, torn into strips and then wrapped all around the body. A trip to the thrift store can offer many ideas for costumes, from fairies, scarecrows and hobos. Children love dressing up like mom and dad, so you might consider allowing them to wear something from your closet.

When picking the perfect Halloween costume, always consider safety first, such as wearing flame-retardant materials and masks that do not obstruct a clear view of the area around the person wearing a mask. Also, you should make sure that when out trick or treating that children wear some type of reflective material and carry a flash light, so they are easily seen by passing motorist. When its cold out, make sure your Halloween costume is large enough to accommodate wearing warm clothing underneath, while if it is warm weather, your costume should not be so thick and bulky as to cause uncomfortable overheating while wearing it.

Halloween is a mysterious and interesting time of the year for make believe and masquerade, whether you are a child or an adult, whether you choose to be ghoulishly creepy or whimsically charming, above all stay safe and have a wonderful Halloween when wearing your ultimately perfect Halloween costume. You're now on your way to having the ultimate Halloween.

Max out your costume. Whatever your costume idea is, be sure to max it out. Make sure that you are wearing something on your feet, your head and that you are carrying something. Get all of the details right. If you bought your costume -- do something to make the costume original and unique. Combine it with something that will make it special and totally "max" it out in a way where if someone else shows up in that exact costume -- you'll have to win.

Play up your best points. Have you ever been told you look like a celebrity? Do you have good legs? Are you funny? Match your Halloween costume to both your physical looks and also to your personality. The judges are going to watch how you act in your costume and what you look like in it. Someone that looks so much like Elvis or Marilyn Monroe is going to have a much better chance of winning than someone who simply doesn't. You want each detail of your costume to get positive attention.

Come up with several ideas for your Halloween costume. Some people get caught up in only one idea for their Halloween costume. Think of several ideas that might work for you. Your second idea could be even better than your first. If you have taken belly dance lessons and you go as a belly dancer -- that would be an ideal costume for you. Much better than dressing up in something else this year. Stretching yourself to come up with several ideas will encourage you to think outside of the box and come up with ideas that could really work for you.

Read the rules of the contest carefully. Some contests don't let homemade costumes in. Others don't let people under a certain age in. Others want only a specific type of costume. To win the Halloween costume contest you must follow the rules. Reading the rules carefully will be sure that you are planning the very best Halloween costume for a successful win.

Be funny, original and express yourself! The biggest secret to a Halloween costume is coming up with something that makes the judges notice you. Whether your costume is very scary, very sexy, very funny or simply very original -- your costume must be very something! Express an opinion with your costume and dare to be different. Have you heard of the Pumpkin Costiume on http://www.pumpkinkits.com

You'll be glad you did as you wear your Halloween costume and win the Halloween costume contest top prize!

Don't just settle for witches and princesses this Halloween. Other than dressing like scary creatures meant to give party-goers a heart attack, why not try to be inspired by Hollywood stars this Halloween 2008?

When in Hollywood, Halloween is never something to fear. With lots of parties leading up to the thriller season, fans could feast on the sight of their favorite stars donning hot costumes that would make you love the darkness of November 1.

Celebrities become willing victims of fashion every Halloween. This is the probably the only time when the red carpet is laid out for over-the-top, freakish and downright tacky Hollywood fashion sense. It's only during these events when celebrities can proudly come up to the fashion police dressing like a killer clown, demented ballerina, Hercules, or some wild mythical animal, without being ridiculed or crushed in the tabloids.

Last year's famous Hollywood Halloween parties showcased a lot of interestingly scary fictional creatures portrayed by some headline-making stars. Paris Hilton shocked everyone when she came out as a freakish blue-eyed Alice in Wonderland. Basketball rebel, Dennis Rodman was in a very festive mode last Halloween co-playing as, well, himself, only prettier. Victoria Secret's dream, Heidi Klum bashed the party with a tempting red apple costume together with husband, Seal, as Eve. Everybody was waiting for Britney Spears to come and considering what will be her Halloween costume. The most controversial star wearing unusual costume is really a highlight for the press.

Everyone is definitely on the lookout for more show-stopping costumes and entities that these celebrities would be sporting for Halloween 2008. Because of the buzz created by the Batman movie, chances are that this November, bats will be all around the hottest parties guarding not only Gotham City, but the streets of Hollywood, as well. Spider-man will be around your friendly neighborhood, too...probably hanging out with Batman for the season of fright.

Politics is also an odd mix to the Halloween fever as famous politicians Sarah Palin and Barrack Obama are expected to be the main squeeze. They may not be scary (literally) enough for this season, but coming out as these political figures would absolutely earn some stares.

Hannah Montana, the queen of tweens, is an inspiration for costumes this year. Don't be surprise when a bevy of little girls looking like Hannah Montana knock on your door for treats. Though definitely not a strange creature, Hannah Montana is a creative costume idea to gain some attention this Halloween.

Traditional costumes like witches, princess and boogieman are still in this ghostly season of November. From mythical animals, strange creatures, and fictional creatures of the night to the most Hollywood inspired, trendy costumes this Halloween 2008 is sure to give you a fright and some amount of fun alongside parties and booze.

If you are a style maven who is a bit bored with the traditional then you might be interested in unique christmas tree themes. Here are some unique suggestions for christmas tree themes that are sure to be real conversation starters.

The Christmas Cocktail Party Tree

This christmas tree theme looks great on both big and small trees. First, if your tree is not a prelit tree try stringing it with a string of novelty lights instead of the usual egg shaped lights. You can buy plastic novelty lights in the shape of Chinese Lanterns (for a 50's feel), chili peppers (for that modern martini bar feel) and Pink Flamingos (for that Tikki cocktail party atmosphere.)

Then try decorating the tree with tiny cocktail parasols and multicolored cocktail picks. If your tree is really big you could also decorate it with plastic champagne glasses into which you have glued sequins or glitter. Miniature chocolates filled with liquor also make nice tree decorations.

The Gingerbread Tree

This most gorgeous of christmas tree themes never goes out of style. It looks best on a green or red tree. Decorate it with gingerbread man cookies, red glass balls, tons of candy canes, red velvet bows
and homemade paper snowflake ornaments.

This tree looks great accented it with white or gold beaded garland or a bushy red or white tinsel garland. or icicle-look garland. Top it with a Christmas themed stuffed white or brown teddy bear.

The Chocolate and Gold Tree

This is probably the trendiest of the christmas tree themes described here. It looks great on a red artificial tree. The color scheme in this case is reds, browns and golds. Tiny twinkling gold and red
lights look best. Think of the eighties when you decorate this one. Decorate this tree with walnuts, pinecones and chocolates wrapped in foil. Gold coins are a nice touch. Then tie large transclucent gold
and red ribbons, using the kind of ribbon that has bendable wire inside onto the ends of the trees. The ultimate effect of this tree should be very opulent and lush.

The New Baby Tree

If you are celebrating the birth of a child or a child's first birthday this is a great tree to honor how happy you are about the new arrival in your home. The decorations suggested look great on
any kind of tree but you could consider buying a small blue or pink artificial tree. This is a good idea so any toddlers or infants around can't get ahold of any shed needles. Also if you buy prelit artificial trees then you don't have to worry about them yanking lights and pulling the whole thing down. If you have lots of toddlers around then you might want to opt for a small ceramic christmas tree until they are old enough not to grab at decorations and xmas tree limbs.

Pink, mint green, lavender and blue frosted glass christmas balls look particularly nice on pink or blue artificial trees. You can also decorate these trees with baby toys, baby bottles filled with candy,
teddy bears, baby booties and socks, pacifiers and wooden alphabet blocks. Little stuffed animals look great on this type of tree and a larger teddy bear or soft plush toy makes a great tree topper. If the
baby is a girl you might want to consider topping the tree with a doll dressed as an angel.

The Peppermint Twist Tree

This most minimalist of christmas tree themes looks fantastic on a bright white, prelit artificial tree. The color scheme of this is red and white but you can add a touch of green in the lights that you
string around it. Purists however think that keeping the whole thing red and white in every way looks best.

When it comes to the decorations stick with red and white round glass balls. Red and white frosted glass balls look much better than the conical ones. Also festoon the branches with as many red and white peppermint candy canes as you can find. Remember too that you can also stripe red or white christmas balls with white or red glitter by simply adding some glue in a striped shape to the ball and rolling it in the glitter.

You can also accent this look with red and white ball shaped peppermint candies. A large lollipop with red and white striping and surrounded by a sunburst bouquet of candy canes makes a great tree
topper.

The Sea Side Tree

This most unusual of christmas tree themes looks best on artificial trees in aqua or light blue colors. However it would also suit any tree that has a coral color such as light orange or pink.

This tree is decorated with treasures from the sea including seashells, sea horses, and ornaments made from aquarium decorations (treasure chests, coins and corals.) Strings of pearls can be used as
a garland and novelty lights shaped like seashells or even fish can be strung to enhance the aquatic theme.

The Snow and Ice Tree

This is one of the most unusual of christmas tree themes as it is white and icy blue instead of the more familiar red and green. First decorate it with a garland of novelty lights shaped like icicles or snowflakes. Your decorations should be made of see through plastic or crystal so it looks like the tree is dripping with frozen, glittering shapes. Instead of cotton batten, drape the tree with faux spider
webs or cotton shreddings to simulate boughs heavy with snow. You can even mound this cotton at the ends of the bough so it looks like it has been clumped there.

Your final step is to spray the whole thing down generously with flocking. Flocking is simulated snow that comes in an aerosol can. You can spray this stuff on just about any kind of tree including artificial prelit christmas trees and ceramic trees to make them look frostier.

This treatment is stunning on a white artificial tree but it also looks great on red, purple, blue or other artificial trees as all of the white provides a nice contrast to the tree's original color.

Adult's Muscle Chest Batman Halloween Costume

Customer Review: Good costume
This costume with the muscle chest is great for the money. I chose to purchase a better mask and a pair of gloves because I plan to wear this for a few years. The only thing I didnt like is the ears on the mask, they are kind of floppy.A similar costume without the muscle chest looks more like adult pajamas.

Peter Pan Halloween Pet Costume

Customer Review: not really as pictured
I had high hopes for this costume, it looked like exactly what I needed from the picture. When I received it though, it was a bit different. The hat in the photo is cute, with both green and brown fabric, and looks large enough to go with the rest of the costume. In reality the hat is a tiny green beanie with a feather glued sloppily to the side. There is no brown band at all. Also, the collar on the main part is pictured as brown, but the one I received was green (although that's a pretty minor thing). I noticed the costume came with a tag with a photo showing the same one as shown on Amazon. Too bad it really doesn't look like that.

Though Halloween has always been about scary things like ghosts, goblins, and witches, some get more excited about things that are pretty disgusting. Though your children may not want to eat Brussels sprouts or broccoli throughout the year because they are 'gross,' this is one time of the year when they are going to go bonkers for the chance to slice into a brain, or to perhaps gobble down a handful of severed fingers. We may never understand the difference, but we can certainly go with it. Find some fun and gross Halloween recipes to serve on this fun day.

If you can make Jell-O, you can come up with some pretty gross Halloween recipes on your own. You may have to shop online to find them, but there are some very interesting Jell-O molds out there that can help you make brains, fingers, and other interesting body parts. If you would like to serve a heart in a bowl of blood, this is the way to go. You have to come up with the right colors for these gross Halloween recipes, but they should be simple enough to make. Don't forget to use strawberry sauce, or something else that is darker red, to have for the blood. Things are much more disgusting when they come with some blood.

1) 1 box of Jello

2) I jar of strawberry sauce

3) 1 big bowl

Use a jello mold to make an eye ball. Pour the Strawberry Jelly or Strawberry sauce over the eye ball and place in the bowl. Put the bowl in the refrigerator to make it hard.

You can also do some interesting things with spaghetti for gross Halloween recipes. Things like this are screaming out to be made into something truly yucky. You can come up with a thick, dark red sauce and then use it to make what would look like intestines. This may not make things good to eat, but they are going to be interesting. Find some type of item that you can use to present the intestines, and you are going to gross your kids out - just like they have wished you would do.

If you are good with baking, you can make some gross Halloween recipes that involve decorating things with eyeballs and other icky items. You can make cupcakes that look like giant eyeballs, or perhaps you could cut up a cake to decorate as something that is going to repulse and delight your children or your other guests. These ideas for gross Halloween recipes work well at home, but don't forget to share them with others that you love. If you are having a party of any type, be sure you have enough to serve all of your guests. It's a party they are not soon going to forget.

Sexy Evil Queen Adult Plus

Includes: dress, cape with collar, crown. Boots and apple not included. Plus 16-22.

You only have about a month to prepare Halloween costumes for your kids. Buying Halloween costumes could be time-consuming because they always change their minds. Today they want Belle costumes but tomorrow they may ask you to buy Sleeping Beauty costumes.

It is a good idea to give them some choices as early as possible because it ensures the final decision is made carefully. They will have no more excuses. Of course it helps save you money.

Your kids may have been choosing Halloween costumes for several months. They want to stand out. They want to be special. They want, for sure, to get more treats than other girls. It is no doubt that Hannah Montana Halloween costumes must be their first choice.

Although surveys from National Retail Federation (NRF) show that princess has been the most popular costume for 3 years, Hannah Montana costumes is going to challenge that in this year.

So how can you get a Hannah Montana Halloween Costume? You have 3 options.

Option One: Buy from Stores
You can buy directly from specialty stores. The good side is your daughter can try different sizes and feel the "real" product but it will be quite expensive. Some stores may offer you discount because Halloween is coming. So you need to do some research beforehand.

Option Two: Buy Online
The second option is to buy Halloween costumes online. It is a better idea because there are many choices for your daughters. You can also buy accessories like wigs and microphones at the same time.

One reminder is that prices at websites selling costumes may vary. Just like you buy from specialty stores, I suggest you visiting different sites to check the prices. Do not believe the "lowest price" banner. Remember to compare the prices.

Option Three: Make it Your Own
You can make a Hannah Montana Halloween costume by yourself (or with your daughter). It could be more cost-effective. And you will find lots of fun when making the costume with your daughter. The relationship between you two must enhance a lot.

In case you are not good at making clothes, do not worry. You can buy parts of different costumes and then mix them together. You may think it is not DIY but it is much easier and you will also have fun.

If you ask me what the hottest Halloween costume is in this year, I can only say it must be Hannah Montana Halloween Costumes. If you want to buy one online, you may visit Hannah Montana Halloween Costumes - 2008. There are lots of choices for you.

A teachers view on Halloween safety is much like any parent's view on the holiday. Teachers want to ensure that parents and children alike are educated on the potential hazards that may occur on Halloween. This is why many teachers will actually create an entire lesson in the fall dedicated to expounding on the issues that may occur on this holiday, and will provide their students with essential tips and techniques on how to remain safe while trick or treating.

In addition to this, many students are also provided with literature that they can take home to their parents to educate them on the dangers and safety techniques during this holiday. Here, you will be introduced on the importance of Halloween safety, and some essential strategies on teachers view on Halloween safety and other very important facts.

Now, if you are a teacher, this can actually make a very easy and fun lesson plan. You will want to start by creating groups with approximately four to five students a piece. The students should be asked to communicate with one another on safety tips that they feel is important on Halloween.

You may want to provide a large piece of newsprint, or chart paper, so that they may jot down their ideas. Now, you should have your own paper written up and copied to provide to the students once the lesson is complete, but it is important to allow them to create their own as well.

Once the groups have been completed, you should ask them to present their Halloween safety tips to the entire class. Once each group as completed, you should expound on the tips presented so that they may understand the teachers view on Halloween safety.

When teaching children how to remain safe on Halloween, it is important to ensure that you reinforce the fact that all treats received should be thoroughly checked by an adult before consumption. It is also important to express the fact that it is important to never go trick or treating alone.

A partner or two should always travel with the students. It is best to travel in groups, and even better when that group includes an adult! It should also be expressed that homes that are lit well should be the only homes that are approached on Halloween. Flashlights should also be taken along for additional light. A teachers view on Halloween safety can prove to be exceptionally beneficial to students and their parents as well!

Halloween - the most celebrated festival in the west, is the time for absolute fun. Kids enjoy the most when it comes to celebrating the Halloween. Batman Dark Knight The Joker Child Costume

Includes: Mask, jacket and printed shirt. Pants, shoes and gloves not included. This is an officially licensed Batman costume.

You're dashing with your kids, from store to store, madly trying to finish your Christmas shopping. You know that it's only a matter of time before the clock runs out on your children's patience, and they start to crash. They're tired of the Christmas CD you've been playing in the car, and the games you've brought along have run their course. You've got three more malls to hit today, and your biggest fear is trying to shop with bored children.

Here's one way to keep them entertained-dazzle them with your knowledge of odd little Christmas facts.

For instance: When you hear the Gene Autry classic "Here Comes Santa Claus"- for the fiftieth time, today-ask your kids if they'd like to visit the real Santa Claus Lane someday. That'll make them think, at least for a minute. Though they may be disappointed at the lack of snow and ice, if they do visit Santa Claus Lane. See, every year since the 1930's, Hollywood Boulevard has been officially re-named Santa Claus Lane, during Hollywood's annual Christmas parade.

More semi-useless, but attention-grabbing facts:

What's the most popular Christmas song of all time? Bing Crosby's version of "White Christmas". And "Silent Night"-arguably the most recognizable Christmas hymn-was written in 1818, by an Austrian pastor, Joseph Mohr. As Christmas Eve came, that year, the organ in his church was broken, so together with his friend, Franz Gruber, he wrote this new tune for the service that night, and played it on his guitar for his congregation. And "Jingle Bells" was originally written for a Thanksgiving celebration, in 1857.

As important as Christmas is to us, today, it's only been in the past 150 years or so that the day has been an official holiday, in America. Thanksgiving was a much more important secular holiday to early Americans. In fact, Alabama was the first state in America to recognize Christmas as a holiday, officially, in 1836-and it wasn't until 1905 that Christmas became officially recognized by Oklahoma.

Electric lights for Christmas trees were first invented by The Edison Company in 1882. Up until then, if trees were lit, candles were used-and then, usually only on Christmas Eve night.

The Christmas abbreviation-Xmas-is thought by some to be sacreligious, but in fact the first letter of the Greek word for Christ is chi, which is X. Before the invention of the printing press, "Xmas" was often used, in print, to save time and ink.

We get our custom of hanging stockings by the mantle from the Dutch, though their custom is to leave wooden shoes by the fireplace-they fill the shoes with fruits for the donkey St. Nicholas uses to carry his gifts for children.

See how easy it is? Just keep tossing out these little tidbits, one by one. Either your kids will marvel at your brilliance, or they'll fall asleep in the car. Either way, they're occupied. And you're almost done; Christmas is almost here. Just keep talking.

Preteen Bumble Bee Halloween Costume

What makes a Dad so special that when Daddy comes in the door, nothing matters but getting to the door to give him a big hug and a kiss? Seeing my own husband with his girls, I often smile and recall saying to a girlfriend of mine, "I'd like him to be the father of my children". How did I know that he would be a great Dad? Well, I knew before he did, that he would make a great father when I saw how he treated his nieces and nephews and how he enjoyed childlike play.

With Fathers' Day coming up, I decided to ask a few Moms why they feel their kid's Dad is great? Here is what a few of them had to say.

There seems to be a general consensus around men playing differently with their kids.

"My husband is a child at heart and plays really well with the kids."

"My guy will often play princess with my daughter."

"He plays silly games that I couldn't possibly come up with."

Dad's these days are much more involved with their kids.

"They are much more likely to give them baths and read them their bedtime stories."

"He makes them their favourite breakfast."

"He enjoys taking them to the park."

"Doesn't mind changing dirty diapers."

When Dad comes home from work, he looks forward to spending some quality time with his kid (s).

"My husband can't wait to get home and be greeted by his girls. Daddy!!!"

"My husband enjoys sitting down and watching a movie with the girls."

"He likes to take them to their extra curricular activities."

"He likes helping them with their homework."

Dad's are often under appreciated and Fathers' Day is a nice reminder of how great they really are. To all of you Dad's who are doing their jobs, keep up the good work!

HAPPY FATHERS' DAY!

The Fourth of July is a great time to celebrate with our friends and family and to remember how the United States came to be the free country it is today. We all have our own ways of celebrating but almost every celebration could be made more fun and amazing by decorating with white, blue, and red colored Christmas mini lights and traditional C7 and C9 light sets. If you have never thought of using Christmas lights for your Independence Day celebrations, then go up into the attic, pull them down and consider some of these ideas.

Outdoor Decorations If you are having an outdoor barbecue, you may rely on sunlight to brighten your day time activities. But you can also use the Christmas lights to brighten up the area after the sun starts sinking. For example, if you have bushes, hedges, or trees in your outdoor area then string these with the mini lights and different colors of net lights. Do you have an outdoor grill or patio set? Run lights around these outdoor items so they stand out in the dusk, adding color and fun to your festivities and making it a little easier to see what you're doing. Mini lights attached to the support of your patio umbrella are really stunning and make after dark conversations magical. Mini lights and C7 and C9 light sets also look beautiful when strung around gazebos, along the roofline in colors tailored to the season - in this case, red, white and blue and can can spruce up your child's swing set making it into an object of architectural beauty for adult parties! If your car, boat, or other vehicle is visible from your party location, you can always string lights along it as well.

Indoor Decorations While most of our Independence Day festivities our outdoors, if the weather is too hot or too stormy for those barbecues, we can still spruce up our indoor party with the patriotic-themed Christmas lights. Look around you living room. Drape lights around your television and along the shelves of your entertainment center. Hang mini lights on the walls using simple push pins or tacks that can be removed once the party is over. Just place the pins to create the design you want and lay the lights over them. Fill unused vases with mini lights and run and extension cord to the nearest outlet to accent your food tables or your furniture. This is a great tip year round - change out the lights depending on the colors associated with the season. Stair railings are also great because you can weave the lights around them or drape them over the rails depending on the look you want. With the lights off or turned down, the lights look amazing and can be useful in helping your guests find their ways to the next level of the party. Barbeques, parties - good times with friends and family. No matter what you do to celebrate the 4th or other patriotic Holidays be sure to make them sparkle with your Christmas Lights.

Shellie Gardner, owner of Christmas Light Source, has a passion for decorating with mini lights and traditional C7 and C9 light cords and bulbs. A firm believer in using Christmas lights year round, she and her team spend a lot of time figuring out ways to use them all year long.

Goddess Wig (Natural Red) Deluxe Adult Halloween Costume Accessory

You do not have to be a good crafter to be able to make many great Halloween crafts that will make your holiday joyful. Halloween evokes pictures of spooky ghosts, black cats, dark witches, and flying bats.

You can recreate some of these images with fun and easy crafts.

The greatest part about creating Halloween crafts is that the whole family can make them and it it allows you to spend some time together. Lots of Halloween crafts can be done by almost any age child. For instance, your toddler can help out and learn new skills like cutting, drawing, and coloring.

Of course, you need a few crafting supplies from the store. Here is the basic craft equipment needed:

  • Various craft paintings: black, white, orange, etc. (pots and spraying cans)
  • Gold and silver paint (spraying cans)
  • Colored pipe cleaners
  • Black, white, silver and gold markers

Obviously, most households already have average craft supplies like scissors, tape and glue.

So, let's begin: it is going to be fun!

Spiders

To make these spiders, you need an egg carton.

Cut all the egg cups.

Paint them black.

Paint their eyes with white or orange paint.

Make four small holes on each side of the spiders.

Insert a black or colored pipe cleaner in each hole and stick or glue them to the spider.

Give the shape you want to the pipe cleaners

Pumpkin boxes

Find as many small pumpkin plastic containers as you want.

Fill them with candies.

Voila! Treats are ready to be given to kids who will knock on your door on Halloween Eve.

Colored Pumpkins

Here is a very special idea that will allow you to recycle your Halloween ornaments while saving a lot of money. You probably already have ceramic pumpkins. Instead of buying new Halloween decorations, paint your old ones according to your needs: gold or silver paint for a luxurious decoration, for example.

You may also want to paint them in black or white. With a black, white, silver or gold marker, draw some shapes on these new pumpkins such as black cat, white witch, black mansion...

Kids love bright colors so you can paint your pumpkins in several different bright colors such as orange, green, blue, red, yellow, etc. Draw Halloween figures on these pumpkins. For teenagers ornament, paint pumpkins with metallic colors, glow-in-the-dark, glitter, etc.

Pumpkin Jar

If you already have one or more, fill a glass jar with small plastic or ceramic pumpkins; alternate pumpkins with maple berries and leaves.

Homemade Halloween Illuminations

Here is an almost free Halloween craft! Paint small jars in black, white and orange. Draw some Halloween shapes on them and insert a tea light candle in each jar. For instance, paint a white jar, draw Scream murderer's eyes and mouth and voila, you have a very special ghost light. Place the Halloween candles on a black tray, insert mini pumpkins, maple berries and leaves, etc.

If you have bigger jars, you may paint them as well and pour in Christmas lights.

Halloween Candelabra

Paint candelabra with black paint.

Add orange wax lights.

Hang cobwebs on the candelabra for a spooky Halloween effect!

Halloween Centrepiece

You will need to use a bread basket in order to make this item.

Fill it with some maple leaves.

Add cobweb, mini pumpkins, spiders...

You may keep the basket for Thanksgiving: you will only have to replace cobweb and spiders by grapes and pine cones.

Halloween Tree

Put bare branches in a vase.

Paint small Christmas tree balls black, white, and orange.

Draw Halloween figures on them.

Hang the balls on the branches.

You may also make your own Halloween tree decorations such as ghosts, black cat, witches, and spiders cut out cardboard. Paint them and hang them on the tree.

Tip: create a great Halloween garland with popcorn painted orange.

Witch Hat

If you still have a pointy black hat from last year, reuse it by sticking Halloween items such as fake hands, spiders, cobwebs or other spooky items and pin it to the front door.

Happy Halloween!

Child's Robot Halloween Costume (Size: Small 4-6)

Halloween is one of those days which both children and adults always look forward to, after Christmas, and Independence Day, Halloween is the most celebrated day in America. People indulge themselves in playing pranks and wearing scary costumes. The children also go out for some Trick-or-Treating. While all this is so much fun, most of us don't know about the real origin of Halloween and why we do the things we do to celebrate it.

Halloween was brought to America by the Irish people in the 1840s. The word Halloween actually refers to 'All Hallows Eve' which is celebrated on 31st October in the north-west of Europe. Their New Year began on November 1st which is celebrated as 'All Saints Day'. So 'All Hallows Eve' is actually the eve of 'All Saints day'.

The origins of Halloween date back to 5th century BC in Ireland. The Celtic tribes that inhabited the place celebrated their new year on November 1st. On the eve of the New Year they celebrated the festival Samhain. This day marked the end of summer season and the beginning of winter. The people believed that on this day the spirits of the dead people descended upon earth and would try to enter any living soul. So they wore scary clothes dressing up like ghouls, witches etc and made spooky noises in order to confuse the ghosts that they were dead and not living. This is why people now dress up as ghosts and other monsters during Halloween.

Even the Trick-or-Treat part of Halloween has its own origin. It is believed that on Halloween priests and saints would go out to each and every house to pray for the soul of any of their dead relatives in exchange for some cakes and buns.

Halloween is nothing without the Jack-O-Lantern. The Jack-O-Lantern is derived from a person called Jack who was being chased by the devil because he was destined to go to Hell. Later, he tricked the devil into climbing up a tree. When the devil was in the tree Jack carved a cross on it to prevent him from coming down. The devil then made a pact with Jack that he wouldn't throw him in Hell if he removed the cross. When Jack died he neither went in Hell nor in Heaven. So he wandered the earth with only a candle to light his path. This candle was placed in turnip to prevent it from extinguishing. Later on, when Irish people came to America, the turnip was replaced with a pumpkin.

All this has finally lead to the present day scenario where people decorate their home in a spooky way and kids go out dressed up like ghosts for some trick-or-treating.

If you're tired of the same old Christmas decorations year after year and would like to have a brand new look this season, here are some creative ways to adorn your home that will give you a festive feel you can enjoy and also be proud of.

Decorating "Green" For Christmas

Although along with shades of red, the color green is synonymous with the holiday season, but in this case having a green Christmas refers to one that is environmentally friendly, something that with growing concerns like global warming and full landfills is heavy on the minds of people everywhere.

If you have a live Christmas tree and need to trim a few branches before decorating, instead of discarding, use those unwanted pieces to create a wreath for the front door, or hanging on any wall that needs a little something extra. Add some ornaments, ribbons, and any small baubles you already have on hand to the wreath for a one of a kind display that doesn't cost a penny and will also be completely recyclable.

Also remember to recycle your Christmas tree when the season is over and only buy from a farm that amply replenishes its supply of trees each year.

Ornamental Beauty

If you think Christmas ornaments are just for hanging on the tree, think again as these small beauties have the potential to liven up the entire home, giving it an extra festive feel. And, considering most families accumulate quite a large number of ornaments over the years, many of which are special and filled with memories that shouldn't be left in a storage box but rather displayed for all to enjoy. Small ornaments also work great as gift toppers and can be used alone or with a pretty piece of ribbon.

If you have a wallpaper border around any of your ceilings or midway along the wall that doesn't quite match with the holiday theme, transform the border with some ornaments, clear pushpins, bows, and a few yards of inexpensive tulle. Tie bows at even intervals along the border with the tulle and then hang matching ornaments from the center of the bows.

Make your own Advent calendar with 25 ornaments, some ribbon and an open wall by writing the numbers 1 through 25 on the ornaments with a pretty, glitter pen and then hang each one with the ribbon as the days pass in the shape of a Christmas tree. Not only is this a great way to display your ornaments, but it also adds to your holiday dcor and becomes another, beautiful decoration.

Adorn your houseplants with ornaments to create tiny little Christmas trees all throughout the house, and use your imagination to find creative places for other ornaments that you may have overlooked before. Tie ribbon to ornaments and hang them from the chandeliers, the tops of curtains, and even from the ceiling, especially around the Christmas tree for a striking effect.

You can also use flat, wooden ornaments to create personalized napkin holders for your Christmas dinner. Using plain napkin holder rings, hot glue the ornaments, after decorating of course, to the rings and even add a few to the placemats if you have some plain ones that need sprucing up a bit.

Simple glass bowls and sparkling ornaments make for a pretty display that literally takes minutes to put together. Any color ornaments will do and the bowls can be scattered throughout the house and embellished with extras like strands of lights, or sprigs of holly or pine.

Now your indoor Christmas decorations are organized, how about checking out outdoor nativity sets and other outside Christmas decorations at our website xmas-ornament.com

Baby Infant Pink Leopard Halloween Costume 12-18M

Customer Review: Great costume!!!
It was just the way it was described and my little girl looked absolutely adorable in it. It was the perfect halloween!!! Thanks
Customer Review: Cute!!
This costume is so cute and true to size. The only problem is that the ears don't stand up on their own.

I love fall. I love the month of October the best. Every October, I get energized when the chill in the air begins to penetrate my late-summer clothing. My chest tends to expand to near bursting when I drive on highway 196 to town and am assaulted by the bright reds, yellows, and oranges that flank the road. I want to soak it all in. I want to remember the feeling I get when I've raked a pile of leaves and my children charge at the pile like Linus with his "wet sucker". However, it is nearly impossible to be completely in the moment when every mother knows they are actually staring down the long barrel of the upcoming season. You know, the one where there are Christmas card lists to make, presents to buy, festivities to plan.

Doesn't it feel sometimes like autumn is just the warm-up for Christmas? It is a challenge to concentrate on what costumes my children want when I am becoming increasingly preoccupied with what Santa will be bringing. I have a feeling that moms of previous generations didn't have this kind of trouble to this extent. Today's parents begin to think about Christmas when the stores tell us to begin thinking about Christmas. Currently that is around August when the artificial trees and the ornaments first begin to appear in the windows of shops. The strategy is to encourage us to get our holiday shopping done soon and early. Then we get a stress-free holiday, right? In actuality, because of the unlimited gift options and selection, many parents continuing to purchase gifts right up to near Christmas.

So this year, avoid those sections of the stores where the pretty new holiday dcor lies waiting. You'll have time to think about that next month. Instead, focus on October as it has a lot to offer. Pick some apples. Visit a pumpkin patch. Throw a Halloween party. Make the most of now.

If you are considering looking for a nautical gift, for a friend or relative, this Christmas, then you are in good company.

Buying gifts is something that just about everybody indulges in at one time or another during the year, especially Xmas. So, it is no surprise to know that millions search for gifts on the internet. What is more of a surprise though is that nautical gifts are amongst the most popular. Why should a gift of a nautical nature be more sought after than a romantic gift or gift for mum? If recent search statistics are to be believed, then a gift to do with the sea is the more "popular".

What is it, then, about a gift of a nautical origin or inspiration, that makes them so popular? Of course, the word gift is English, so the statistics focus on English speaking countries, most notably the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, New Zealand and Australia. All of those countries have strong nautical connections. England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland have always had nautical traditions; settlers from Europe travelled to North America by sea in vast numbers, as they did later to Australia and New Zealand. The countries of Britain have been in many sea battles over the centuries.

Millions of people, then, have some sort of nostalgic and historic connection to the sea, so probably feel attached, at a deep level, to matters nautical. That may, or may not, explain the immense interest in nautical gifts that we see today.

Another very simple reason for the popularity of sea related presents could simply be the attractive range you can find with a nautical theme. Here are just a few of the types of sea and ship related gifts you can find online:

Nautical Wall Hanging Gifts

You can find many nautical gifts for hanging on walls, such as a brass bell, mirrors, clocks, bar signs and sculptures.

Bar and Tableware Gifts

You can find some lovely nautical gifts for a bar or the table. The nautical theme has been applied to coasters, table mats, salt and pepper pots and other types of attractive gifts.

Ship Models

Models of ships have been popular for centuries and remain so today. Their beauty and intricacy makes them exceptional gifts for the nautically minded.

Books

Books are an ever popular gift to give and receive. For someone who is interested in nautical subjects such as pirates, seamanship, navigation and boats, then a nautical book is doubly appreciated.

Nautical Lighting

Some of the most attractive nautical gifts are the lighting products. Lanterns and lamps based on a nautical design are very popular and deserve to be so.

There are, of course, many other nautical subjects that make a great theme for a Christmas, birthday or other present. The number one, of course, is a ship; okay, you can't afford a real one, but there are some fabulous models around! Including the perennial ships in a bottle.

Has the Mother's Day celebration become too expensive? In the past have you taken mom out to a costly dinner and shower her with expensive gifts? As we come upon Mother's Day we still want to let mother's know who special they are but that doesn't mean you have to break the bank.

Ideas for a frugal Mother's Day celebration are endless and you hampered only by your own imagination. In our family we hold an extended family celebration. Father's and children prepare the meal and desserts while also cleaning up after the entire shindig. Gifts are exchanged father and child to mother and mother's to each other. Gifts are very small and usually end up being good baskets that cost only a few dollars.

The first thing to think about when putting together a Mother's Day is that this is a wonderful opportunity to make and create. Even though we are a in a buy buy society hand crafted gifts are much more memorable and meaningful.

Here are some ideas.

Make your Mother's Day Meal from scratch -Taking mom out to dinner can be incredibly costly. Put together your own 5 star meal at home. Roasts are so much easier to prepare now that we have those great oven bags Just follow the directions and pop it in the oven for a never dried out cut of meat. Add some potatoes and a yummy salad. Make some of your menu items before hand such as desserts and appetizers. Bake a cake from scratch rather than buying one. If you've never baked a cake before buy a cake mix and a tub of frosting. It's so easy it should be outlawed. You can also find complete meal recipes and instructions on the internet also. Just do a search under "Mother's Day Menu". If you are rather gourmet in your cooking ability search for special recipes in magazines like Cook's Illustrated and back issues of Victoria Magazine. Get these issues from the library.

Make your Mother's Day cards from scratch - Scrapbook your card or cards. Be extra frugal and use flower cut outs and sentiments from previous cards in your Mother's Day card. Do you have a printer and some great ink? You can find tons of printable cards online. Just do a search and check out what you find. You still have time make a day of it with the kids. Pull out all the paper crafts and design an outstanding Mother's Day card. Cut flowers from ready to toss magazines. Glue them onto card-stock. Make a border out of a scrap piece of lace. Pre-print the words on the front and add you own special sentiment inside.

Make Your Mother's Day Gifts - What would mean more to mom than a bottle of expensive perfume? Probably a day or two without household worries or cares. A week's worth of freezer meals. Can you sew? Make mom a fragrant lavender filled neck wrap. Fill it with rice and dried lavender.

Mother's Day is a very special day but that does not mean it has to be very expensive. Let mom know you care because you took the extra time to make it by hand.

The season of holidays is fast approaching. Halloween is almost around the corner. Then, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year festivities are not far behind. People generally throw parties according to family tradition. Some may have a potluck, buffet affair. The guests bring their personal favorites, and everyone shares a conglomeration of yummy dishes. Others have more formal gatherings and pull out the best china. But, costume parties are a good choice, when it comes to indulging in a little fantasy or throwing a theme masquerade.

For example, consider the fun of throwing a party with a theme of another country. For instance, what do most people imagine, when asked how they envision a party in Asia? I am fairly certain a Geisha girl would come to mind. Kimonos are absolutely gorgeous. Although I do not understand how these beautiful ladies accomplish the task, but a chopsticks adorned hairstyle is definitely intriguing.

Another great idea is period costumes. For example, what is one of the most colorful and unique periods in recent American history? Think Woodstock. Of course, most people will think of hippies and free love in the sixties. Even for the next generation can enjoy a conversation about going retro. The wild attire and Go-Go boots are great. Most cannot fathom parents being kids during that time.

Alternatively, a blast to the distant past may be a different theme to explore. Although it is hard to imagine, the Renaissance really did occur, and a time did exist when citizens are basically poor or rich, nobility or peasant. But, even though the times are probably something not to be seriously revisited, the attire is definitely interesting and fun.

Sometimes, great themes for costume parties are influenced by real life. For example, many people have a loved one who is, has, or will be serving in the military. Stickers and banners are everywhere, encouraging the communities to keep these loyal Americans in thought and prayer. So, why not throw a support our troops party. Pick any branch of the service, and it is easy to find a great selection of costumes. In fact, camouflage costumes always available to support all servicepersons.

So, enjoy the holidays. Plan a party of two. Establish a theme, and go to a party in style, decked out in a great costume from a different time or place, or in support of those who have no time to party. Instead, they are protecting our freedom to have a good time and celebrate the holidays. Enjoy the upcoming seasons of celebration.

LED lights have opened up an entirely new, colorful world when it comes to decorating for the Christmas season both inside the home and out. Now that the price of the semiconductor materials needed to produce the different colored lights has dramatically decreased over just the past decade, the average person can take advantage of this high-tech way of illuminating their homes for the holidays.

Even though in a price-per-price comparison LED lights are a bit more expensive, their incredibly low operating costs may balance out the difference over just a few seasons of usage.

Anyone who has ever decorated a Christmas tree or the outside of their home using the traditional strands of Christmas lights will be quite familiar with the frustration and irritation of one burnt bulb ruining their entire set. With the solid-state construction used in LED lights, this, thankfully, is not a concern, and there's also no need to worry about broken bulbs or pieces of glass to pick up.

The rust-proof contacts used in LED lights, which are usually coated in zinc, make them perfect for outdoor use as rain and snow won't affect them, and since they run on a standard house current, there's no need to install any expensive outdoor outlets or transformers.

If you love the look of all white lights at Christmas time, you used to have the choice between either completely clear or the standard white light, but now with LED lights, the choices for just white lighting alone are numerous. Using different combinations of phosphorous materials, "white" LED lights alone can be found in shades such as antique white, pure white, frosted white, warm white, and several other variations allowing us to creatively and beautifully decorate the home for the holidays.

These days you can get a very large variety of LED Christmas lights to choose from, whether for the small residential home and yard, the large luxurious mansion style home,or a small or large commercial concern. LED lighting really come into its own with the large outdoor displays. Apart from the string lights and rope lights you can turn into your own design, you can also buy ready made displays that will impress the neighbors until their green with envy. You need the space, of course, but you can buy substantially sized nativity scenes using LED lights, and other Christmas decor such as animated Santa on a sleigh or even a motorbike, giant snowflakes.
